This one came in through the website on a Saturday afternoon. The homeowner had been looking at his options for a while and wanted a real estimate before pulling the trigger. I drove out the same day to take a look to verify measurements for the best quote.
The existing setup was one of those hybrid doors, MDF panels with wood stiles and aluminum rails. It's an odd build, and one that doesn't hold up well over time. MDF wicks moisture, the wood stiles move with the seasons, and aluminum rails aren't carrying weight the way a steel door would. Once we walked through the condition of what he had and what his options looked like at a few different price points, he decided to handle the door and opener together rather than do it piecemeal.
We installed a Clopay 4050 with steel construction, insulated, built to hold up to what Kansas weather throws at it. Paired with a Chamberlain B4505T: belt drive for quiet operation and MyQ connectivity if he wants to monitor or control the door from his phone. Pulled out the old door and opener, hauled everything off, and he had a fully working garage before dinner. Website message to finished install in under 1 business day.
